Welcome to the Trumpet Studio at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts

 saxton1
UNCSA has a long and rich history of the study of the trumpet. Alumni can be found across the globe performing, teaching, and occupying many different positions in the creative arts.  UNCSA is located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, three hours from the beaches and two hours from the mountains.  The conservatory atmosphere cultivated at UNCSA allows for a program of study that is very intensive and focused on one-on-one applied study with the major teacher.  In addition to its School of Music, UNCSA is comprised of four sister schools in Filmmaking, Design and Production, Dance, and Drama, allowing for collaborative opportunities unmatched by any arts school in the nation.

Whether you are a prospective student or just a fan of the trumpet, we hope you will enjoy visiting our website.  Please check back in on occasion, as there are always exciting new things happening here!  Be sure to take advantage of the RESOURCES page for free downloadable information.  See  below for my videos and the Spotlight. We had a wonderful group of Collaborative projects to finish our 2009-2010 school year - check them out in PHOTOS.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

SPOTLIGHT

Judith Saxton and Allison Gagnon  (collaborative piano faculty) record their first joint compact disc in Watson Hall. It was chosen to be offered as the FREE cd with all new 2010- 2011 International Trumpet Guild (ITG) memberships to be sent with the March journal.  This links you to the list of repertoire on the ITG website. http://www.trumpetguild.org/products/recordings/latestcd.htm    (copy and paste in your browser)

Please consider joining ITG - THIS YEAR to receive this cd - some of the repertoire has never been recorded, and most of it has never been recorded on cd!  It is all wonderful contest and concert repertoire for trumpeters of any age to enjoy and perform.
